I must admit that I had low expectations going into the A24 film Bodies Bodies Bodies. I’m not a huge fan of teen horror movies that are all about comedy and Gen Z slang, but the murder mystery part intrigued me. So, after watching it, I was pleasantly surprised to find that I enjoyed it very much. It’s currently available on Netflix, but it won’t be there for much longer, as it will be leaving the streaming service soon.
Of course, I won’t spoil it, considering this is a classic murder mystery. However, while it may not be a groundbreaking work in the genre, it holds its own with its interesting character reactions and What is shocking is that Good ending.
With Netflix dropping soon, now is the perfect time to watch this crazy movie. If you want to watch a movie that is both entertaining and gripping, Bodies Bodies Bodies is one you should experience at least once, and here’s why…
What is Bodies Bodies Bodies about?
Watch
Bodies Bodies Bodies is about a group of young friends who gather at a remote mansion for a hurricane party. As the storm rages outside, they decide to play a murder mystery game called “Bodies Bodies Bodies”. The game quickly descends into chaos when one of the participants is found dead.
As the friends, each harboring secrets and grudges, turn on one another, paranoia and distrust set in. As they try to uncover the killer among them, their friendship breaks down and they realize the real danger may not be the storm outside, but the deception and betrayal within their own circle.
Bodies Bodies Bodies is a very interesting movie
Bodies Bodies Bodies is a movie you only need to see once. While it may not be the best movie ever made, it is definitely entertaining. Rachel Sennott’s role as Alice stood out to me the most because she provided incredible comedic relief. Even though Alice is not the main character, she still provides some of the most memorable laughs in the movie.
Then, I have to give credit to the two leads: Sophie (Amandla Stenberg) and Bee (Maria Bakalova). As a couple, they have undeniable chemistry and throughout the film, their loyalty to each other is tested as accusations fly. Their performances really ground the film, adding depth and intensity to the mystery of “who is the murderer” without taking it too far.
That’s why I truly appreciate movies that have a lot of fun and don’t take themselves too seriously. In a world where so many movies strive for high drama or deep themes, a movie that’s content to just entertain can be refreshing. Flesh excels in this regard, delivering an enjoyable ride without any pretenses. It reminds us that sometimes, it’s best not to take things too seriously.
Of course, before you get caught up in the chaos, there are some flaws I need to point out. The main one is that the film struggles to balance strong horror elements with comedy, sometimes leaning too far toward one at the expense of the other, which left me a little confused about where the story was headed. There are also clichéd dialogues that may make you feel a little uncomfortable. Anyone It can be cringe-worthy at times, but I guess it adds to the absurd humor of the film.
Yet, despite these flaws, the film still has a unique spirit and atmosphere that storms (literally) around the edges, giving it a unique charm. Rotten Tomatoeswith an audience rating of 69%. Empire Magazine Ella Camp summed up the film perfectly: “It’s tense when it needs to be, and it’s a lot of fun throughout. These rich kids are incredibly stupid, but the filmmakers are smart enough to make Bodies Bodies Bodies a successful ending.”
