    After Pornhub left France, this VPN saw 1000% in a matter of minutes

    Registrations grew 1,000% this week after PornHub blocked access to France just 30 minutes ago. The adult site reportedly left its second largest market on June 4, thanks to Mashable’s Anna Iovine.

    “5pm – Pornhub blocked France from accessing its website,” Proton VPN said on Twitter on Wednesday. “5pm – @protonvpn registration increased by 1,000%[.] In the context, this is more than Tiktok prevents Americans. ”

    Mashable has contacted Proton VPN for comment.

    Mixable light speed

    A VPN or virtual private network is a service that can route your Internet traffic to a remote server through an encrypted tunnel before sending it to the network. The main purpose of VPN is to restore some online privacy from one’s ISP and other prying eyes. But they are also often used to trick a person into a location: a VPN can make it look as if its users are visiting websites in countries where they don’t have physical.
