Google has recently taken down a Gemini demo video from December that showcased its conversational capabilities. This action follows a review by the National Advertising Division (NAD) of the BBB National Programs, an advertising watchdog, which questioned whether the video accurately reflected Gemini’s performance in responding to voice and video prompts.

To resolve the inquiry, Google decided to discontinue promoting the video. The demo had highlighted Gemini’s ability to swiftly react to various verbal requests, such as identifying components of a drawing and generating geography games in real-time.

However, a closer look at the video’s description revealed a disclaimer, noting that the demo’s latency had been reduced and the outputs shortened for demonstration purposes. Another message at the beginning of the video also indicated that certain sequences were condensed. Oriol Vinyals from Google DeepMind further explained that the demo represented what a multimodal user experience with Gemini could potentially look like.

In response to NAD’s investigation, Google not only delisted the video but also made a related blog post unavailable. When asked for a comment, Google did not provide an immediate response. However, in NAD’s press release, Google expressed satisfaction with the resolution, stating it was “pleased to accept NAD’s resolution of this matter.”
