Technology companies Capgemini Has become the official technical partner of 14 international cycling activities, including Tour de France and Zwift’s Tour de France women.
The five-year deal, which will last until 2029, aims to bring AI and the latest technological innovations to cycling events to drive fan engagement and provide enhanced performance insights.
Capgemini’s CEO said in a statement about the announcement that the partnership aims to “enhance the future of the movement through cutting-edge innovation, data-led insights and enhanced fan experiences.”
While the specific details of what Capgemini will bring to the game have not been announced yet, the company said it will help to “provide a technical roadmap” for each event and bring the game to a larger audience.
“This strategic partnership will help promote and accelerate our digital ambitions for Tour de France and all ASO cycling events around the world,” said Yann LeMoënner, Managing Director of Amaury Sport. “The new digital solutions will help further enhance the fan experience and attract new communities through innovative and upgraded features and services.”
The announcement created a Capgemini partnership that brought AI insights into the sports world.
Last year, the company introduced Windsight IQ, a lidar-based system that visualizes wind patterns and predicts audience race outcomes, making yacht racing more accessible and appealing.
For the upcoming 2025 Ryder Cup, Capgemini will also debut a generated AI-driven version of its results IQ platform, providing fans with real-time data analysis to track probability and results shot through SHOT.
Recently, the company announced a partnership with Peugeot Sport to use AI and data to enhance the 9×8 Hypercar’s performance at the World Endurance Championship.
