XGIMI adds laser option and built-in battery to its Mogo 4 projector

XGIMI attaches the battery to the latest version of its compact Mogo projector, making it more portable, because if you can’t use the socket, you won’t need to bring in an extra power bank anymore. Both the Mogo 4 and Mogo 4 lasers should have enough built-in power to watch two and a half hours of movies, and include other welcome upgrades such as the standard-sized HDMI port.

The Mogo 4, which uses LED light sources like the Mogo 3 Pro, starts today and costs $499, making it $50 more expensive than its predecessor. The Mogo 4 laser with a brighter laser source is now available, but it is expensive at $799. The Mogo 4 can be bundled with XGIMI’s 20,000mAh PowerBase, extending playback time for $549, while the laser version is packed in a similar bundle, and also includes a foldable outdoor screen for $899.

Both projectors have similar designs to the Mogo 3 Pro, which looks like a chunky metal water bottle, but is actually made of plastic with a faux metal finish. For added flexibility when you can set them up and use them, the integrated stand can now rotate a full 360 degrees. The new model also ditches the Mogo 3 Pro’s Micro HDMI port for full-size ports, so you don’t need an adapter or special cable to connect the projector to the console or other video source. The resolution is maintained at 1080p.

These two projectors are a little heavier now – from 2.4 pounds to 2.9 pounds, thanks to their built-in battery, but if you keep them away from the power outlet, you may still want to keep the external power bank on your hands. The estimate of XGIMI’s battery life of 2.5 hours is based on the projector being in ECO mode, which reduces its brightness to 40%. You can expect that when the battery is used in Mogo 4 lasers with full intensity of 450 ISO lumens, the battery life will be greatly reduced.

A pair of slightly larger 6W Harmon Kardon speakers are integrated into two new models to improve sound, and they both come with a mini wireless infrared remote that is tied to them on a short lanyard, as well as a larger remote with a background button and quick access to Netflix and Amazon Prime videos (such as Netflix and Amazon Prime videos).

The Mogo 3 Pro offers an optional optical filter that can be placed on its lens to create a light display, allowing the projector to multiply it to accent lighting. The Mogo 4 includes a magnetic filter called Sunset by XGIMI, while three others (Dreamscape, Lunar, and Ripple) work with the app to create “environmental and immersive background experiences” and are purchased for $99. The Mogo 4 lasers all come with all four lasers.

Other features XGimi launches from Mogo 3 Pro include the ability to use the new projector as a Bluetooth speaker with ambient lighting that can be synchronized to the rhythm of playback, automatic Keystone correction, continuous autofocus, and the use of Google TV so that you can access streaming services without an external box or Dongle.
